ROCKCORPS ONLINE
PRIVACY POLICY
Effective Date of This Online Privacy Policy
This Online Privacy Policy is effective as of September 15,
2006.
Scope of This Online Privacy Policy
This Online Privacy Policy describes how RockCorps, LLC
(“RockCorps,” “we,” “us,” and “our”) protects your privacy when you use the
RockCorps websites or pages that display this Online Privacy Policy, including
without limitation our corporate websites, located at www.rockcorps.com
and www.rockcorps.org, the website for Boost Mobile RockCorps, located
at www.boostmobilerockcorps.com, as well as certain pages within other
websites on which links to this Privacy Policy are displayed (collectively, the
“Sites”). Although some of the Sites are co-branded with Boost Mobile since it
is the title sponsor of the Boost Mobile RockCorps program, RockCorps’ Privacy
Policy applies to the Sites and Boost Mobile’s privacy policy only applies when
you link to or otherwise access Boost Mobile’s site.
This Online Privacy Policy applies only to personal information
collected through the Sites. “Personal information” means information that
identifies you personally, either alone or in combination with other
information available to us.
This Online Privacy Policy is part of and incorporated into the Terms
of Use for the Sites. To review the full Terms of Use for these Sites, click
here.
Your Consent to This Online Privacy Policy
By using a Site that displays this Online Privacy Policy, you
are agreeing to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal
information as described in this Online Privacy Policy. If you do not consent
to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as
described in this Online Privacy Policy, you may not use the Sites.
Questions Concerning Our Online Privacy Practices
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this Online
Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please send an email to
info@rockcorps.com or call us at 1 (888) ROCK-889.
This Online Privacy Policy May Change
We reserve the right to update or modify this Online Privacy
Policy, at any time and without prior notice, by posting the revised version of
this Online Privacy Policy on the Sites governed by this Online Privacy
Policy. Your use of one of the Sites following any such change constitutes
your agreement that all personal information collected from or about you
through these Sites after the revised Online Privacy Policy is posted will be
subject to the terms of the revised Online Privacy Policy.
You may access the current version of this Online Privacy Policy
at any time by clicking on the link marked “Privacy Policy” on each of the
Sites.
What Personal Information Do We Collect on Our Websites?
Information You Volunteer. We collect the personal
information you knowingly and voluntarily provide when you use the Sites, for
example, the information you provide when you register on the Sites.
Information Sent to Us by Your Web Browser. We collect
information that is sent to us automatically by your web browser. This information
typically includes your IP address, the address of the web page you were
visiting when you accessed a Site, the name of your operating system, the name
and version of your browser, and the date and time of your visit. The
information we receive depends on the settings on your web browser. Please
check your browser if you want to learn what information your browser sends or
how to change your settings.
The information provided by your browser does not identify you
personally. We use this non-personal information primarily to help us improve
the Sites. However, if you have created a user identity on one of the Sites,
or if you access a RockCorps Site by clicking on a link in an email we have
sent you, we may link the information provided by your browser to information
that identifies you personally. In addition, we may review our server logs for
security purposes, such as detecting intrusions into our network. If we
suspect criminal activity, we might share our server logs – which contain
visitors’ IP addresses – with the appropriate investigative authorities who
could use that information to trace and identify individuals.
Information Collected Using “Cookies” and Other Web
Technologies. We use “cookies,” and similar technologies to collect information
and manage the Sites. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your
hard disk by a Web server. Each time you visit a particular RockCorps Site,
our Web server will recognize you by “searching” the information contained in
these cookies. This permits us to offer you a personalized experience when you
use the Sites. These cookies do not identify you personally. If, however, you
have created a user identity on a RockCorps Site or if you access a RockCorps
Site by clicking on a link in an email we have sent you, we may link the
information collected by our cookies to information that identifies you
personally.
If you do not wish to receive cookies, you may set your browser
to reject cookies or to alert you when a cookie is placed on your computer.
You may also delete our cookies as soon as you leave a Site. Although you are
not required to accept our cookies when you visit the Sites, if you set your
browser to reject cookies, you will not be able to use all of the features and
functionality of the Sites.
How Do We Use Your Personal Information?
RockCorps uses the personal information collected through
RockCorps Sites to provide you information on RockCorps events, concerts and
volunteer opportunities; to register you for RockCorps volunteer projects or
events; to improve the Sites; to better market our products and services; and
for any other purpose related to the Sites or the business of RockCorps;
provided, however, that our use of such personal information will always be
directly in connection with volunteer opportunities, cause-based initiatives,
non-profit purposes or community activities and not to promote unrelated
commercial products or services. When you register on one of the Sites, you
will be added to our e-mail list. In addition, if you opt-in to receive text
messages, you will be added to our text message list. You will be charged in
accordance with your rate plan with your wireless carrier for any text messages
sent or received. You may ask to have your contact information removed from
these lists at any time by clicking here, or sending an e-mail to
info@rockcorps.com.
With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information?
Your personal information will never be shared by RockCorps with
any third party for purposes of direct marketing of commercial products or
services. However, RockCorps may share your personal information in the
following circumstances:
Third-Parties. We may share your personal information
with non-profit organizations or other third parties, including but not limited
to Boost Mobile, with respect to volunteer opportunities, cause-based
initiatives, non-profit purposes or community related activities we think would
be of interest to you.
Service Providers. We may share personal information
collected through the Sites with companies and organizations that perform
services on our behalf, for example, companies that provide support services to
us (such as data storage and web hosting services) or that help us market our
projects or events (such as third-party e-mail marketing companies).
Protection of Our Websites and Others. We may disclose
the personal information we collect through the Sites when we, in good faith,
believe disclosure is appropriate to comply with the law (or a court order or
subpoena); to prevent or investigate a possible crime, such as fraud or
identity theft; to enforce the terms of use or other agreements that govern
your use of the Sites; to protect the rights, property or safety of RockCorps,
our users or others; or to protect your vital interests.
Business Transfers. Information submitted to the Sites
is an asset of RockCorps and/or its affiliates and will become part of our
normal business records. Your personal information may be transferred to
another company (either an affiliate or an unrelated third party) that has
acquired the stock or assets of RockCorps, one of our affiliates, or one of our
operating divisions, for example, as the result of a sale, merger,
reorganization, dissolution or liquidation. If such a transfer occurs, the
acquiring company’s use of your personal information will still be subject to
this Online Privacy Policy and the privacy preferences you have expressed to
us.
Your Choices /Changing Your Information
RockCorps respects your right to make choices about the ways we
collect, use and disclose your personal information. We generally ask you to
indicate your choices at the time and on the page where you provide your
personal information. If you have created a profile by registering on one of
the Sites, you may update your choices, or modify any of your personal
information, by logging in and updating your profile.
Security
SSL Protection. Before you give us personal information
via the Internet, we require that a secure connection between your computer and
our server be established. We use a technology called Secure Socket Layers
(SSL), an encryption technology that works with Netscape Navigator (version 2.0
or above), Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 3.0 or above) or AOL (version
3.0 or above). A secure connection is maintained until the registration
process is either completed or canceled.
Although we use SSL encryption to safeguard the confidentiality
of personal information as it travels over the Internet, “perfect security”
does not exist on the Internet and we can not guarantee the safety of
transmitting personal information over the Internet.
Password Protection. Certain areas of the Sites are
password protected. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of
your password. We have the right to assume that anyone accessing the Sites
using a password assigned to you has the right to do so. You will be solely
responsible for the activities of anyone accessing the Sites using a password
assigned to you, even if the individual is not, in fact authorized by you. You
agree to change your password immediately if you have reason to believe that
your password may have been compromised or used without authorization.
Links to Third-Party Websites
The Sites may contain links to sites that are not operated by
RockCorps, or to pages within sites that are operated by a third party, even if
such site is co-branded with RockCorps (collectively “Third Party Sites”).
Links to Third Party Sites are provided for your reference and convenience only
and do not imply any endorsement of the activities of these Third Party Sites,
nor any association with their operators. If certain pages of the Sites are
located within Third Party Sites or co-branded sites, although the Sites are
governed by this Privacy Policy, other pages may be governed by the terms of
use and privacy policy of the applicable Third Party Sites. RockCorps does not
control Third Party Sites and is not responsible for their data practices. We
urge you to review the privacy policy posted on any Third Party Site you visit
before using the Third Party Site or providing any personal information about
yourself.
During the registration process, as well as in other locations
within the Sites, you may encounter links to the website for Boost Mobile. Any
information you provide once you are on the Boost Mobile website, will be
provided directly to Boost Mobile rather than to RockCorps, and all such
information as well as your use of the Boost Mobile website is governed by the
privacy policy of Boost Mobile.
Children’s Privacy
RockCorps’ Sites are not directed at nor targeted to children
under the age of 13. We do not use the Sites to knowingly solicit personal
information from or market to children under the age of 13. If you are under
the age of 13, do not provide us with any personal information. If we learn
that someone under 13 has provided personal information to one of the Sites, we
will use reasonable efforts to remove such information from our databases.
